Jellycat Toy Theft Part of £8,500 Shoplifting Spree

A man has admitted a series of shoplifting offences across Leicestershire, including the theft of Jellycat products from a Market Harborough store.

Simon Chamberlain, 55, of Pilkington Road, Leicester, pleaded guilty to 10 theft offences at Leicester Magistrates’ Court.

One of the offences took place on 23 May, when Chamberlain stole Jellycat soft toy products worth £200 from The Kitchen Range Cookshop in Church Street, Market Harborough.

The remaining offences involved thefts from shops in Melton Mowbray, Wigston, Coalville, Ibstock and Leicester between April and July this year.

Among the items stolen were skincare products, cosmetics, detergent and other goods, with individual thefts ranging from £114.70 to more than £2,700.

The total value of the stolen goods exceeded £8,500.

Chamberlain has been granted conditional bail ahead of his sentencing hearing at Leicester Crown Court later this month.

As part of his bail conditions, he has been banned from entering a number of stores, including the store in Market Harborough, Sainsbury’s in Wigston, Boots in Melton Mowbray, Home Bargains in Coalville and The Co-op in Ibstock.
