Inspectors Order GP Practice To Make Improvements

A GP Practice with surgeries in Market Harborough, Kibworth, Fleckney and Great Glen has been ordered to make improvements after inspectors raised concerns.
The Care Quality Commission inspected South Leicestershire Medical Group after receiving a high number of complaints from patients in relation to access and whistleblowing allegations from staff.
The practice, which has 24,617 patients on its books, has been rated as ‘Requires Improvement’.
Kibworth Medical Centre
Inspectors visited Kibworth Medical Centre, the Market Harborough surgery on Torch Way and Fleckney Medical Centre during their inspection in April.
Their report concluded the practice did not always provide care in a way that kept patients safe and protected them from avoidable harm, patients did not always receive effective care and treatment that met their needs and patients were not able to access care and treatment in a timely way.
The CQC has ordered the practice to make improvements

A spokesperson for Leicestershire’s Clinical Commissioning Groups, which oversea GP surgeries, said: “We are, of course, concerned that patients are experiencing difficulties and we continue to be closely involved with South Leicestershire Medical Practice, offering support and guidance in order to make improvements for their patients.
“Following the publication of the CQC report, our Primary Care Quality Team will be working with the practice to implement an improvement plan – and we will be supporting them to gather additional insight from both staff and patients to assist with these improvements.
“Additionally, we are liaising with MP Neil O’Brien and Cllr King to initiate a meeting with CCG chief executive Andy Williams, members of the South Leicestershire Medical Practice team and patient representatives.”
