Inspector Throws Out Planning Appeal For Business Relocation Plan

Written by on 28th April 2023

A plan developers say would allow two businesses in Market Harborough to expand has been thrown out on appeal.

They wanted to create a new out-of-town base for Harborough Hire off Leicester Road, which Three Manors Developments Ltd said would have allowed Travis Perkins to extend its operations onto the firm’s current site at the Three Manors Retail Park, off Rockingham Road.

The developers challenged Harborough District Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for the scheme near the Forest Gate garage, but a government planning inspector has agreed with the ruling, saying it would put highway safety at risk and be harmful to the countryside location.

Since the plan was announced, Harborough Hire has been bought by national operator Morris Leslie Plant Hire.
