Independent Traders Benefit From ‘Rise & Revive’ Scheme

Independent shops and businesses across Harborough have received free expert support and cash grants to help them boost trade.
19 traders have benefited from the district council’s Rise and Revive in Retail programme, which has enabled improvements to window displays, stock control systems and on-line promotion.
Retail expert Laura Harrison of LH Retail Development Limited used her knowledge and experience in the sector to help businesses with planning, attracting new customers from promotions and marketing, shop layout and merchandising, as well as advice on increasing profits through sales.

Lindsey Cunningham of Love, Light and Harmony in Lutterworth, said: “My business benefitted from free support. The guidance and resources have enabled me to streamline operations, expand outreach and establish meaningful connections within the community.
“I am immensely grateful for the help and encouragement I have received. Because of grant funding I can improve my website offerings and reach even more people.”
The project was paid for with funding totalling £36,000 from the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Cllr Simon Galton, Deputy Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “It’s important that we support local retailers to improve and remain viable great businesses at the heart of our communities.
“Independent shops bring their individuality and unique personal service to our market towns and centres.”
