Fielding Palmer Hospital

Fielding Palmer Hospital in Lutterworth is temporary stopping admission of patients.

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust says it’s taken the decision because the old building cannot conform to the Government’s social distancing rules.

Additional beds have been made available at other community hospitals – including St Luke’s in Market Harborough.

A spokesman said: “This temporary measure has been discussed and agreed with our commissioners.

“The small Victorian hospital does not enable safe social distancing to be maintained on the ward to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 infection.

“The hospital opened in 1899. Its structure and layout means that safe social distancing on the ward cannot be maintained.”
