Highway Bosses Consider Objections To Proposed Parking Ban Near Schools

Highway bosses are considering a number of objections to plans to ban parking on a large stretches of roads outside two Market Harborough schools.
Many parents at the town’s C of E Primary Academy and St Joseph’s Primary School say it will create a safety risk for their children, as they will have to be dropped off further away if double yellow lines are put down on Coventry Road and Fairfield Road.
The C of E Academy has also lodged objections.
Leicestershire County Council has proposed the measure due to cars parking on cycle lanes and footpaths, particularly at school drop off and collection times, which it says creates its own safety risk.

A council spokesperson told HFM: “The first stage of the consultation on the proposed scheme has received a number of responses, including objections.
“These will need to be reviewed thoroughly as part of the ongoing statutory consultation process, which could take up to six months.”
