Harborough Town Showered with Praise After Title Triumph

Harborough Town are being congratulated after sealing promotion to the highest level in their history.

The Bees will play in the National League North next season after being crowned champions of the Southern League Premier Central on Saturday.

It marks a remarkable rise for the club, securing a third promotion in five seasons under manager Mitch Austin.

He described a feeling of “pure joy” after his side clinched the title and spoke to HFM about what it means:

With two matches still to play, the Bees have already amassed 93 points, losing just three times in 40 games this season.

Saturday’s title-clinching win came in dramatic fashion, as Harborough fought back from going behind in first-half stoppage time to win 3–1 at Halesowen Town. Goals from Connor Kennedy, Riley O’Sullivan and Ryan McLean sealed the victory.

The achievement also sees Harborough Town become the first Leicestershire club to reach step two of non-league football since Hinckley United in 2013.

The Bees now have a free week before their final home game of the season on Saturday against Bishop’s Stortford, where they will be presented with the Southern League title shield in front of what is expected to be a celebratory crowd at the Beehive.
