Health Clinic Returns To Medbourne After Three Year Gap

A weekly out-reach health clinic has returned to Medbourne after a gap of over three years.

Operated by the South Leicestershire Medical Group, the nurse-led facility has re-opened at the village hall after being halted at the start of the covid-19 pandemic.

Providing medical services and support to residents of Medbourne and surrounding areas, it is hoped it will help relieve pressure on the practice’s main GP surgeries in Market Harborough and Kibworth.

Brian Godfrey, Chairman at Medbourne Village Hall, said: “Delighted to announce that after a gap of over three years, since the start of the Pandemic, the nurse led outreach clinic, operated by South Leicestershire Medical Group and held in a dedicated and recently upgraded facility, meeting modern clinical standards, is now operational once again at Medbourne Village Hall on Mondays.

“This is very good news for local residents in the village and surrounding area. It hoped that the service, including the opportunity to have planned long term condition reviews held in a local setting will be valued as much as the previous arrangement, which has been greatly missed.”

Alicia Kearns MP, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Melton, said: “I am delighted that the health outreach clinic has now reopened, and I am just so pleased for all involved who have fought so hard to get this important health service back.

“Having met with residents here I know how valued this clinic was to the local community, and it has been a real community effort to get this service back up and running again.”

Michael Rickman, Harborough District Councillor, said: “As HDC Nevill Ward Councillor representing 18 rural villages with no bus services and a high percentage of elderly residents, it was absolutely vital that this service was reinstated after a 3-year break!

“It was and remains a vital lifeline for not only Medbourne, but all my surrounding villages. It will naturally also relieve pressure on the main surgeries, so a win win both ways! All the hard work by our combined group has been worth every minute spent.”
