Harborough’s Halifax Bank Closes For Good

Written by on 26th October 2021

The Halifax bank in Market Harborough has closed down.

The branch on The Square shut its doors for the final time yesterday, after it was announced earlier this year it was one of 44 to be axed nationwide.

Parent company Lloyds Banking Group blames the decision on more people switching to on-line banking instead of face-to-face transactions.

It says 70% of its personal customers in Market Harborough already used other ways to bank, such as online and telephone banking.

A Halifax spokesperson said:  “We made the decision to close our Market Harborough branch due to the changing ways customers choose to bank with us, which meant the branch was being used less often.

“Customers can continue to bank locally by visiting the nearby Post Office, which is less than half a mile from the branch.”

The nearest Halifax branches to Market Harborough are now in Corby or Kettering.
