Written by HFM News on 19th October 2023
Shops and businesses in Market Harborough have joined forces to quickly pass on information about shoplifters.
Over 160 owners and staff members are part of the WhatsApp group, along with Police.
There has been a rise in thefts in recent months and in the past 30 days 14 have been reported.
The group is also being used by staff to summon help if they are dealing with aggressive customers or need other assistance.
PC Tom Blencowe is the neighbourhood officer for the town centre and told HFM the system is working really well:

The new communication network is in addition to the HART scheme, where member premises are connected to each other, Police and CCTV operators by radio.
Jarrod Burke owns candy shop Randalls and is a member of the group.
He told HFM it has helped bring the retail community ever closer together and forge greater links with the police:
Shops and businesses wanting to join the group should speak to a near-by premises, who will be able to add them.
