Harborough Rail Users Group Calls For End To Strikes

The group representing Market Harborough’s rail passengers is calling for an end to strikes.

East Midlands Railway has announced there will be no trains running on Saturday December 2nd, when drivers who are members of the ASLEF union walk-out again in their long-running row over pay.

The firm says there will also be alterations to services during the first nine days of next month, because drivers will refuse to work overtime.

Harborough Rail Users group wants unions and government to get round the table and reach an agreement to end the dispute, which also involves the RMT Union and has been causing disruption for passengers for months.

The topic will be on the agenda at the group’s Annual General Meeting tomorrow, which people are invited to.

Tomorrow’s AGM is being held online via Zoom and will also discuss the current train service, Market Harborough Railway station – including further improvements the group would like to see – as well as investment in the main line, including the electrification now in progress.
