Harborough Police Issue E-Scooter Warning

Harborough Police are warning about the dangers of riding e-scooters on fast roads.

Officers came across a 12-year-old girl and her Dad travelling on one between Saddington and Kibworth yesterday.

It is illegal to ride private e-scooters on public roads, as they are classed as ‘powered transporters’ and fall within the legal definition of a motor vehicle under the Road Traffic Act 1998.

This means the same rules apply like tax, insurance and holding a driving licence.

Officers say riding them on 60mph roads could have fatal consequences and took to Twitter to highlight the message:
