Harborough Jobs Week Returns From Friday

A week-long initiative aimed at helping people across Harborough get back into work or find new opportunities launches this Friday.
Jobs Week will feature a number of face-to-face and virtual events, including a Job Fair in Market Harborough next Wednesday, where employers will be showcasing various roles on offer.
Harborough District Council is teaming up with Job Centre Plus and the National Careers Service to organise it and help will also be on offer for firms wanting to recruit.
Latest figures show 1,140 people across Harborough were unemployed and claiming benefits last month, although that figure has been steadily dropping since last year.
Council Leader Phil King spoke to Hfm:

Jobs Week will begin with the monthly Job Club at the Wycliffe Rooms in Lutterworth on Friday, where people can drop-in anytime between 12:30pm-4pm for free support from the National Careers Service or Work Live Leicestershire.
The Job Fair will take place on Wednesday will take place at The Symington Building in Market Harborough between 11am and 2pm, where people can speak directly with employers about what roles are available, with the chance to secure an interview.
Jobcentre Plus are also offering health and well-being workshops to support their customers build confidence; as well as follow up interviews with employers throughout the week.
On Thursday 7 April, job seekers can book on to a virtual ‘Employability Workshop’ delivered by the National Careers Service (NCS). This session is open to anyone, and will focus on transferable skills, CVs and free support available through the NCS.
Employers can also get support by attending the ‘Getting Started with Recruiting and Hiring for Your Small Business’ event at the Harborough Innovation Centre on Thursday 7 April between 9am-12:30pm.
There will also be a range of resources shared across the week on the Council’s social media channels and the Invest in Harborough website at www.investinharborough.com/jobsweek
