Harborough Firefighters Rescue Dog Trapped Underground

Market Harborough firefighters have rescued a dog that got stuck underground for twelve hours.

The Jack Russell named Pepper had gone down a deep rabbit hole during a morning walk yesterday near Welham and the alarm was raised when barking was heard coming from the area off Bowden Lane, just after 9pm.

Firefighters worked for around 60 minutes to free the pet, which escaped unharmed, including using a piece of steak to help coax it out of the hole.

Firefighter Morgan Akroyd was one of those involved in the rescue.
