Harborough Bakery Closes After Firm Ceases Trading

A bakery business with an outlet in Market Harborough has ceased trading.
Kings Cliffe Bakery blame the current economic climate for the decision to close its three bases, including in Harborough Market’s Food Hall, which opened last year.

The announcement was made on the Northamptonshire-based firm’s Facebook page on Friday, by owner Tom Priestley.
He said: “It is with a very heavy heart and deep regret that Kings Cliffe Bakery has today ceased trading.
“The current economic climate with the quite unprecedented increases in fuel, energy and ingredient costs along with interest rates and national insurance contributions have meant as things stand it is no longer viable to continue.
“I would like to thank all of our wholesale and retail customers both new and old for their valued custom and support over many years.”
Mr Priestley also praised hardworking staff and urged people to support small businesses, adding: “They have been nothing but loyal and hardworking and would ask you kind and considerate if you happen to see any of them.
“I would also add that small businesses are going to need their customers more than ever, please continue to support, please shop local, post the positive reviews, and share the posts. These are difficult times.”
The company’s shops in King’s Cliffe and Stamford have also shut.
