Harborough Mail Owners Put Company Up For Sale

harb mailThe company that owns the Harborough Mail has put itself up for sale amid declining readerships and advertising revenue.

Johnston Press, which operates 200 local and regional newspapers across the country, including the Northants Telegraph, Northampton Chronicle & Echo and national daily the ‘i’ says it has taken the decision after failing to put together a new re-financing package to repay 220 million pounds worth of debt.

Investment bankers Rothschild will handle the sale and hope to sell the company as a single entity.

However it is likely that some rival publishers may bid only for certain assets, potentially paving the way for the 251-year-old company to be broken up.
