Harborough Actor Gets Critical Acclaim For New Film

A Market Harborough actor has received critical acclaim for her star role in new British film Lollipop.

Posy Sterling plays a young woman released from prison who struggles to regain custody of her two young children.

The much-talked about feature film, which premieres in London tonight, shines a spotlight on the realities of the social care system and Posy’s role has been described as a ‘bold and urgent’ breakout performance.

Posy, who attended Welland Park Academy and Robert Smyth Academy and founded the Screen School drama group in Market Harborough, was in the audience at a free preview screening of Lollipop at the Savoy cinema in Corby on Monday.

She spoke to HFM’s Nick Shaw ahead of the national release of the film on June 13th:

Lollipop will have a special screening at the Phoenix Cinema in Leicester on Monday, June 16 and will include a Q&A session.

Posy, who was recently named as one of the rising stars of the British film industry by Screen International’s ‘Stars of Tomorrow’, has also recently acted opposite Hollywood star Saoirse Ronan in film The Outrun, and also featured in BBC1’s acclaimed World War II series World on Fire, in a scene with Disney star Jonah Hauer-King.

She also played the female lead in Channel 4’s Person of Interest opposite Asim Chaudry, and featured in ITV’s psychological thriller Playing Nice with James Norton.
