Great Turn-Out For Summer Fayre

The organiser of the Market Harborough Summer Fayre has thanked everyone who helped make it a success.

The HFM-backed community event was held in Welland Park yesterday and included children’s activities with a giant dinosaur, stall, live music and fun dog show.

The award presented to Chris Jones

During the day an award was presented to HFM’s Chris Jones, in recognition of his work to raise awareness of prostate cancer, after having treatment for the disease.

Chris said: “Absolutely gobsmacked and amazed to be presented with this at today’s Summer Fayre.

“I know that some men have been tested for prostate cancer after hearing me talk about my journey on air.

“The knowledge that the power of radio has done some good is very satisfying. To receive this is the icing on the cake.”

Teddington the bear & Andrew Reeves from the South Leicestershire Little Wombles

A Community Award was also presented to Teddington the bear, the South Leicestershire Litter Wombles mascot, in recognition of the group’s tireless work, following a public vote.
