Good Response To Appeal For Footage Of Flooding In Market Harborough

There has been a good response to an appeal for photographic and video footage following Sunday’s freak storm in Market Harborough which led to serious flooding in some areas.
Evidence is being gathered by the Harborough Town Hub, which is working with authorities to identify problem areas and seek solutions.
27 millimetres of rain and hailstones the size of marbles fell in just an hour, with the weather believed to have been a ‘super-cell’ storm, which contains a deep and persistent rotating updraft called a mesocyclone.
The Hub has already identified over 30 problem areas for flooding in the town, as part of wider work to create a Surface Water Management Plan, after Market Harborough was recognised as a ‘flood risk priority’ area.
