Go-Ahead Given For New Care Home On Cottage Hospital Site

Market Harborough’s former Cottage Hospital is to be demolished and a new 70-bedroom care home built it its place.
Councillors last night granted planning permission for the multi-million pound redevelopment of the Coventry Road site.
The protected World War One Memorial and Portico will be retained where it is though, and incorporated into the new three-story building – strict conditions relating that were part of permission.
Work to demolish the building is set to start in January, with the care home set to open in early 2020, creating between 70 and 90
The hospital, which opened in 1910, shut last March when services moved to St Luke’s – the site was sold by the NHS for £1.35m.
