‘Garden Villages’ Could Be Built In Harborough District

New so-called Garden Villages could be built in the Harborough District.
The Council wants landowners and developers to suggest potential areas for them, together with land for employment and retail use.
England’s first Garden Villages were announced by the government four years ago, to deliver between 1,500 and 10,000 properties.
The ‘Call for Sites’ is part a new land availability assessment being conducted by the Council.
A Harborough District Council spokesman said: “The assessment of sites does not change their planning status, but it helps the Council in understanding the development potential of land across the district to meet expected future development needs.
“The Council is inviting the submission of potential sites for a wide range of uses including garden villages or new settlements, strategic development areas, housing, employment, and retail.”

The closing date for the submission of sites is Friday 4 June 2021.
