Three friends from Rothwell and Ashley are taking on a 500-mile driving challenge around the coast of Scotland to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

Tony Green, Tony Woodford and Kian Hutchinson are tackling the North Coast 500 over five days in a 26-year-old bright yellow Volvo estate.

The car has covered more than 200,000 miles and was bought for just £600.

Tony Green came up with the idea of the trip after a friend was recently disagonsed with prostate cancer.

The trio, calling themselves ‘No.i.gear’ as a nod to Top Gear, are inviting people to write messages of support on the car as they make their way around the route.

They’ve already raised more than £1,500 in sponsorship, and Kian says they’ve been overwhelmed by the support:

The North Coast 500 is a 516-mile scenic route starting and finishing in Inverness, taking in some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in the north of Scotland.

The route travels along the west coast to Applecross, before heading north through Torridon and Ullapool and on towards Caithness and John o’ Groats.

The friends arrived in Inverness on Saturday and are being set daily challenges as they make their way around the route.
