Former Desborough Care Home Could Be Sold

North Northamptonshire Council is planning to sell a former care home site in Desborough.

The property in Beech Close has stood empty for more than three years after closing due to structural problems.

The council says money raised from the sale — along with other surplus sites — will help fund regeneration projects.

However, officers from the authority’s housing team are also assessing whether the site could be used for council housing.

A further financial appraisal will take place before any final decision is made or the land is marketed for sale.

Councillor Ken Harrington, Executive Member for Assets, Waste and Environmental Services, said the council regularly reviews its property portfolio to ensure it delivers value for money while meeting its objectives. He added that the sites identified had been through a rigorous process, including considering alternative uses and discussions with local ward councillors.
