Forensic Spray Plan to Tackle Illegal Off-Road Bikes

Police in Desborough are exploring the use of forensic spray to crack down on illegal off-road motorbike riding.

The spray leaves a unique, invisible DNA on bikes, riders, and passengers, which can remain on clothing or skin for months.

The move comes after repeated complaints about dangerous riding, often involving youths without helmets, and is designed to help officers identify offenders who flee when it is unsafe to pursue them.

Chief Inspector Miriam Kiernan from Northamptonshire Police spoke about the proposal at a recent North Northamptonshire Council meeting, following concerns raised by Desborough councillor David Howes:
