Flood Alert Issued For Rivers Across Harborough

A Flood Alert has been issued for rivers in the Harborough area following heavy rainfall over the past few days.

Water levels have risen sharply in the River Welland through Market Harborough, the River Jordan, from Braybrooke through Little Bowden to the town and on the River Sense in the Great Glen area.

The Environment Agency is urging people to avoid using low lying footpaths near watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.

A spokesperson said: “We expect the river to remain high throughout the next few days and flooding to gardens, driveways or outhouses is possible close to the river.

“Our forecasts indicate that flooding inside properties is possible and therefore flood warnings may be issued.”
