Fire crews from Market Harborough and Desborough attended the incident and the owner of the house gave permission for pictures of the damage to be released, to highlight the need to regularly maintain tumble dryers.
A spokesperson for Desborough Fire Station said: “When using tumble dryers ensure you clean the filters regularly and ensure it is well ventilated.
“Also ensure your doors in your house are closed where possible to prevent fire spread and smoke damage, you can see from the cupboard door which was in the room of the fire, the contents weren’t damaged.
“The rest of the property is severely damaged by smoke due to doors being open.”
