A familiar High Street shop in Market Harborough is closing its doors for the final time today.
TG Jones, formerly WH Smith, is shutting after more than three decades serving customers in the town.

The closure is part of wider restructuring by the books and stationery retailer, which is seeing more than 100 stores close nationwide.
The shop opened at its current High Street location in 1991, although WH Smith’s history in the town goes back even further, with a store on St Mary’s Road for many years.
Staff losing their jobs have more than 75 years’ service between them, while customers have told HFM they’re sad to see the store go:

TG Jones was created after WH Smith sold its High Street business to Modella Capital in 2025.
The deal included hundreds of WH Smith stores across the UK, which were subsequently rebranded as TG Jones.
A spokesperson for TG Jones previously said: “As we work to secure the long-term future of TG Jones, we have confirmed that our Market Harborough store will close.
“We know this will be disappointing news for our colleagues, customers, and the local community.
“We would like to thank all of our colleagues for their commitment and the contribution they have made to TG Jones.”
