Fencing Pledge After Dogs Frighten Children

Fencing is to be erected around a play area in Market Harborough after parents had to ‘shield’ their children from five large dogs.

The unleashed animals ran into the area on the Wellington Place estate during a community picnic last month.

No-one was hurt, but several children were left upset.

There have also been other incidents where dogs have run onto the play area, off Airfield Road.

Developers have agreed to act after being alerted to the issue by district councillor Jo Asher:

David Dodge, operations director for William Davis Homes, said: “I was previously unaware of the situation and its impact on local residents until my meeting with Councillor Asher.

“Following our discussion, I am pleased to confirm that we are working with our fellow developers at Wellington Place to put fencing in place around the play area.

“Safety is always a priority for us, and installing this fencing will give peace of mind for the families at the development while they continue to use and enjoy the play area.”
