A new ‘Family Hub’ is to be opened in Market Harborough.

It will provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ for parents and carers to access support and advice on everything from health and relationships to finance and housing.

The hub will open in August at the Children and Wellbeing Centre on Coventry Road and will be one of over 20 to be set-up across Leicestershire by the county council, after it received government funding of nearly £945,000.

The roll-out of the hubs in different parts of the country is being likened to Sure Start centres, which were closed by the government in the post-2010 austerity years.

Councillor Deborah Taylor, county council cabinet member for children and families, said: “Our growing network of family hubs mark an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to our supporting families and strengthening our communities here in Leicestershire.

“We recognise the challenges that parents and carers face on a daily basis, and it is vital that we provide readily accessible support networks.”

Leicestershire is one of 12 local authorities to secure a slice of a £12m pot of grant funding from government to launch the hubs. to transform the way services are delivered for families.
