Exhibition To Be Held About Council’s Plan For New Accommodation For The Homeless

Written by on 5th July 2022

An exhibition will take place on Thursday for people to find out more about the plan to build accommodation for the homeless in Market Harborough town centre.

The new building on Roman Way would house nine flats for people needing emergency temporary housing.

Harborough District Council intends to demolish a disused property close to the junction with Church Square to make way for it.

Some near-by business owners and residents have expressed concern about the plan and it is hoped revealing the full proposals will allay their fears.

People will be able to view proposed designs and artists’ impressions relating to the project and there will also be representatives from the Council present, alongside the architects and construction company, to answer questions.

Cllr Simon Whelband, Cabinet lead for housing, spoke to Hfm:

The exhibition is taking place at the council’s Symington Building HQ between 6pm and 8pm on Thursday. (July 7th)

A planning application is due to be submitted following the exhibition where local residents and businesses will be formally consulted as part of the planning process.
