Entrepreneur’s New ‘Sustainable’ Drink Is A Real Hit!

A Market Harborough entrepreneur’s new ‘sustainable’ sparkling soda drink is proving to be a real hit.

‘Kaoba’ is produced using a waste product from chocolate – cacaofruit  – and is the first drink of its kind to be made on a large scale in the UK.

While most people associate the cacao pod with chocolate, the cacaofruit is the juicy, tropical pulp that surrounds the cacao beans and is usually thrown away.

The drink, which is available in different flavours, is the brainchild of Mathew Halford and is being marketed as a healthier alternative to sugar-laden soft drinks and a way of supporting cacao farmers in South America.

It is already being stocked in over 150 locations nationwide, including restaurants, coffee shops and gyms, as well as through on-line retailers.

Mathew is also in talks with a major supermarket interested in putting the drink on its shelves.

He spoke to HFM about how his idea has taken off:

The drink is proving popular
