Driver Identified After Major Damage To Cemetery

Police have found the driver who caused major damage to the cemetery in Foxton.

A Jeep Cherokee car collided with around 15 graves and headstones when it crashed through fencing and into the site on Saturday evening.

It then left the scene.

Officers have now located the driver, a man from Northamptonshire, who is assisting them with their enquiries into the incident.

Relatives who have loved ones buried at the cemetery have expressed their upset at what happened, while Harborough District Council has pledged to make repairs at the site.

Leicestershire Police are continuing to appeal for information about the crash, thought to have happened between 6pm and 9.30pm.
