Driver Has Lucky Escape After Crash

Emergency services say a driver has a lucky escape after his car was involved in collision with a lorry on the A14 near Kelmarsh this morning.

The man was released from the wreckage by fire crews who were called to the eastbound carriageway near Junction 2 at 7.45am, together with Police and the Air Ambulance.

A picture, released by Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, shows the rear of the Jaguar X-type completely caved in.

Officials say had any passengers been in the back of the car, it is unlikely they will have survived.

The driver was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life changing and non life-threatening by Police.
