A developer has abandoned their fight to build 130 new houses on the edge of Fleckney.

They have withdrawn their appeal against Harborough Council’s decision to refuse permission to build the estate off Fleckney Road on the Saddington side of the village.

Gladman Developments had asked a government planning inspector to review that decision, taken because of the effect the estate would have had on the countryside location.

Fleckney Parish Council spoke out at the Harborough Council planning committee, saying the number of homes was too great, on top of other applications approved in recent years, and infrastructure like roads would struggle to cope.
