Desborough residents and councillors object to planning application

Residents on a Desborough estate are set to continue their fight against their quiet cul-de-sac being turned into the entry and exit route for a major new housing development. After being promised that it never would be, last year householders along Rowan Close discovered Bellway Homes’ plans for ‘The Grange Phase Two’ showed access to 700 new homes via their narrow, un-adopted street. An objection letter has been sent to North Northants Council, signed by residents and Desborough Town & unitary Councillors. It demands a full and detailed transport assessment by the applicant to be fully scrutinised by the local highway authority to ensure that the access is safe and that Rowan Close is suitable for this amount of development. The letter adds: “Any reasonable person would conclude that it isn’t!” and suggests access should be off Back Lane near West Lodge instead.Bellway’s planning application is due to be considered by the Council’s Strategic Planning Committee on Monday (22nd August).
