Desborough Planning Application

Residents on the northern edge of Desborough have reacted with dismay to a planning application which would turn their quiet cul-de-sacs into access roads for a major new estate.
Householders who live on The Grange Estate – built just over ten years’ ago – say they were reassured that any extra housing in the future would not be accessed via their narrow streets for ‘legal reasons’.
Bellway Homes had already received outline planning permission for the 700 home extension to the estate – known as ‘The Grange Phase Two’. However, the developer’s detailed application shows Wood Avens Way, Rowan Close and Ironwood Avenue are all proposed access points.
Existing property owners say allowing access through their estate would increase noise and air pollution and create an unacceptable risk to pedestrians – and that they will object to the house builders’ plans.
A spokesman for North Northamptonshire Council confirmed: “The application will be considered by the council in accordance with the relevant planning legislation, which will include a period of public consultation at the appropriate stage. During this time local residents, as well as statutory consultees, will have the opportunity to respond to the consultation and have their say.”
