Desborough man convicted

A Desborough man who tasered a policewoman in Rothwell whilst resisting
arrest has been put behind bars.

The incident happened on February 7th 2023 when two officers from
Northamptonshire Police approached a Transit van they’d been looking for
– in a hotel car park on Bridge Street in Rothwell.

Northampton Crown Court heard 32-year-old Daniel Stocker was among a
group of men there – and that he approached the officers, despite being
told to stay where he was and get on the floor.

Protesting “I have done nothing wrong!” there was a physical struggle
with one of the officers – during which Stocker activated the taser,
hitting the second, female officer.

Stocker, who has 11 previous convictions, fled the scene after the
incident and went on the run – but was found by police two days later
hiding at a friend’s house.

He later admitted two counts of assaulting a police officer and one of
making use of a firearm with intent to resist arrest.

On Wednesday 19th April 2023 Stocker was jailed for a total of three
years and two months – and will serve half in custody before being
released on licence.
