Delayed Naseby Sq Redevelopment Finally Set To Begin Later This Year

The delayed redevelopment of an elderly people’s housing site in Market Harborough is finally set to start later this year.
A firm has now been awarded the contract to carry out the £6m project at Naseby Square, which will see 38 new affordable homes built.
Housing association Platform is to carry out the development, which will see a number of empty bungalows demolished.
Marion Duffy, Chief Operations Officer at Platform Housing Group said: “We have now completed the competitive tender process to identify a contractor to build the new properties.
“The final details and timescales are being agreed and we will be in a position to provide full details in the spring.
“We will continue to communicate our progress with our customers at Naseby.”

Bungalows will be demolished when the redevelopment project begins
The go-ahead for the controversial scheme was given in 2021, despite major opposition, including over 800 people signing petitions against it.
Harborough District Council was behind the original plan for the site, but sold the land it owns there to Platform for £1.4m.
The authority was also accused of paying over the odds when it spent £920,000 buying a bungalow in neighbouring Granville Street, so the land could be used in the re-development.
