Date Confirmed For Shop Closure

Market Harborough’s branch of Thomas Cook will shut later this month.
The travel firm has confirmed May 22nd will be the last day of business at the shop in St Mary’s Place.

It was announced in March it was one of 21 branches being closed across the country as part of cost-cutting plans.
The company blamed hot summer weather for many holidaying in the UK last year – and issued a profit warning in November, when it revealed bookings for its winter package holidays were also down.
The closure of the town centre branch will be especially sad, as the company’s founder lived here when he organised his first excursion back in 1841.
It’s not known how many jobs will be affected in Market Harborough, as Thomas Cook say some staff have been offered work opportunities at other branches.
