Dangerous Parking Clampdown Set To Be Extended

A clampdown on dangerous parking outside schools is set to be extended.

Council bosses are considering including Kibworth Primary School and St Cuthbert’s in Great Glen in the School Keep Clear scheme, that was launched last year in bid to boost childrens’ safety.

It uses a camera car to patrol at the start and end of the school day to catch people parking dangerously and illegally.

Farndon Fields and Meadowdale Primary Schools in Market Harborough, Lubenham All Saints Primary and The Kibworth School are already in the scheme.

Using automatic number plate recognition technology, the car is used to collect the necessary evidence to enable fines to be issued, via post, to drivers who park on zig-zag markings.

Over 50 fines have been handed out across Leicestershire but none locally to date – although two warnings have been issued outside Meadowdale.
