Dakota Flypast Honours Lost RAF Airmen

A Dakota plane flew over East Farndon yesterday to honour five young RAF airmen who lost their lives during World War Two.
Until recently, little was known about the air crash in the village on July 13th 1944.
Two Wellington Bombers that had taken off from the RAF base in Market Harborough collided in mid-air and crash landed into fields.
Four crew members in one of the planes were killed, together with one airman in the other – five others on-board that plane survived.
Two plaques were also unveiled on the War Memorial in the village during a small ceremony, to provide a lasting tribute to the lives lost.
