Councillors Back Major Redevelopment Of Harborough Leisure Centre
Written by HFM News on 7th September 2021
A major redevelopment of Harborough Leisure Centre has moved closer after councillors backed the move at a meeting last night.
A larger swimming pool is likely plus additional facilities and a public consultation will now be held to find out what people want to see.
It is hoped the re-vamp, which will see the Council contribute up to £8.75m, will be completed by December 2024.
Harborough District Council’s Cabinet voted to approve moving forward with the redevelopment project, instead of building a brand new centre, which was also being considered.
Cllr Simon Whelband, Cabinet Member for Communities and Well-Being, spoke to Hfm:
The Cabinet also approved a plan to refurbish Lutterworth Sports Centre, at a cost of around £1m.
