Council To Assess Local Plan Feedback

Harborough District Council is to begin assessing feedback following the conclusion of an eight-week public consultation into its Draft Local Plan.

The document sets out preferred sites for development over the next 15 years, including over 6,000 new homes across the district.

The allocation of land for 4,000 houses at Stretton Hall near Great Glen has proved controversial and over 2,300 residents have endorsed an objection submitted by campaign group ‘Stop The New town’.

HDC held a number of public information sessions across the district for residents to find out more about the plan and make comments.

Council officers will now examine the feedback and are due to report back to councillors in the autumn, when a decision will be made on if the plan will be submitted for independent examination by a Planning Inspector, who will examine the ‘soundness’ of the Plan on behalf of the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
