Council Tax Freeze Proposed

Harborough District Council is proposing no increase in its part of Council Tax bills this year.

If approved, as part of the authority’s budget, it will be the second year the charge has been frozen, meaning people living in the the average Band D home in the District paying £167.

Finance bosses are finalising budget plans for the next year after being told just before Christmas how much cash the Council will get from Central Government.

Meanwhile, Leicestershire County Council announced last month it intends to increase it proportion of bills by 3.99%, which works out at about a pound extra a week more for the average home in the District.

Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service have yet to reveal their plans.
