Council Owes £425k To People Who Overpaid Council Tax

There are calls for Harborough District Council to repay over £425,000 owed to people who overpaid council tax.
Figures obtained by Martin Lewis’s Money Saving Expert website reveal that 2,340 people are entitled a refund.
Most of the money is believed to be owed to residents who moved out of the area after already paying some or all of their bills.
Cllr Jon Bateman, leader of the opposition Conservative group at the council, told HFM the money should be repaid as soon as possible:
The council is responsible for collecting all council tax in the district before it is distributed to authorities providing public services.
Harborough District Council has been approached for comment.
