Council Facing Funding Gap Of Over £1m Due To Pandemic

Written by on 18th June 2020

The Coronavirus pandemic will leave Harborough Council with a funding gap of £1.1m, unless it gets more government support.

It is estimated the total impact on the authority’s finances will be just over £2m, as a result of lost income from things like parking charges, and additional expenditure to support residents.

Bosses are continuing to lobby the government for additional cash, or could be forced to use money from reserves to bridge the gap, and revisit its spending plans.
