Council Collaboration A Step Closer

Written by on 6th December 2022

Harborough District Council will share a Chief Executive and other senior staff with Melton Borough Council from January if a plan is approved.

The proposal, which would save nearly £700,000 over three years, was endorsed by the authority’s Cabinet last night, but still needs the final go-ahead from councillors at a full council meeting later this month, and from members in Melton.

If approved, Edd de Coverly, Melton Borough Council’s Chief Executive, would become Shared Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service for both authorities, while Liz Elliot, Harborough’s interim Chief Executive, would take up a post of Shared Deputy Chief Executive.

The collaboration would be the first of its kind in Leicestershire if it goes ahead.
