Council Agrees To New Timing For Link Road Opening

A developer is being allowed to delay opening the final part of a link road through Market Harborough’s Airfield Farm housing estate on health and safety grounds.

The main stretch opened last month after being held-up several times, but the section between Airfield Road and the B6047 roundabout by the Innovation Centre remains shut.

The timing of the opening of the whole road was a condition of the original planning permission for the estate and developer Taylor Wimpey had to apply to Harborough District Council to request putting back the opening of the final part.

It said the area is still busy with construction traffic and would be unsafe to allow vehicles to pass through.

The council has agreed to give the developer until June 2025 to fully open the link road.
