Coronavirus: Thursday’s Local Update

Around 30 trucks and tractors will head through Market Harborough tonight as part of the Clap For Our Carers campaign.

This week will be the final convoy as local firms salute the work of NHS and key workers during the Coronavirus pandemic, to coincide with the national applause at 8pm.

 

A bin collection crew has been greeted by a round of applause as they arrived in Berry Close in Great Bowden.

Residents also clubbed together to give the team a goody-box to share, that included chocolates, sweets and bottles of wine.

It was to say a big thank you for what they continue to do as keyworkers.

Rainbows continue to spring up across the Hfm Region in support of NHS and keyworkers.

They’ve appeared in shop windows, including Cooper Estates in Market Harborough, where a message has replaced where houses are usually advertised, outside schools and at Kibworth Fire Station, where people have been invited to add messages in chalk.

A Market Harborough woman has had all her hair cut off to raise cash for NHS staff fighting the Coronavirus pandemic.

Charlotte Simpson had been thinking about it for a while so thought it was the perfect time to get sponsored to do it – and has now raised over £1,300.

Her Dad did the honours with the scissors, as Charlotte saw her hair, which was about ten inches long, disappear in her garden:
