Coronavirus: Latest Local Updates

Harborough Council has launched a dedicated website detailing information and support during the Coronavirus crisis.

It includes a Community Hub offering help and advice to residents, and assistance being offered by other groups like the voluntary sector.

There is also a section for businesses who are affected and the help available to them.

Volunteers have teamed up with Market Harborough Medical Centre to deliver prescriptions to people self-isolating, who have no-one else to do it for them.

The Harborough Twenty Twelve Lions Club will provide the service to those who get free medication – Sarah Hill from the group spoke to Hfm:

A host of independent shops and businesses in and around Market Harborough are adapting to help customers – and themselves – during the outbreak.

Many are offering a home delivery service and preparing items that can then be picked up in a ‘drive’ thru style.

With all Church services suspended until further notice, Harborough’s Anglican team is to stream a service on the internet at 5pm this Sunday and continue doing so every week.

An audio service from the Congregational Church will also be broadcast for Mother’s Day.

The churches have also announced the annual open-air service on The Square on Good Friday will not be held this year.

The Air Ambulance shop will also close in Market Harborough on Sunday together with all the charity’s other shops across the Midlands – for two weeks initially.
